Sixers and Seconders enjoyed a busy weekend at Gladstone Hall between 9th and 11th of October. A hike through the woods followed by supper and a game of bingo ensured the Cubs were ready to for a good night’s sleep in their tents.
Saturday’s bases included backwoods cooking, fire lighting, axe and saw safety, pioneering and abseiling down the Gladstone tower. The campfire entertainment was ably Russel and Dave. The Scouts and Cubs performed skits and jokes between the songs and everyone joined in to make it a great success. Supper and bingo finished the night and as usual the camp settled relatively early on the second night.
After breakfast on Sunday morning the Cubs completed the orienteering course set by the Explorers. The Scouts’ Own service was led by Dave Beard (ADC Cubs and Camp Leader) with his daughter as guest speaker. Dave also officially closed the camp after thanking Lynda and Jane for preparing excellent meals for us all. We had a wonderful Sunday roast dinner before leaving.
