On Monday 26th April the Cubs went for a walk from Bastion Hall along the Prestatyn-Dyserth walkway for 3km to the old railway shed in Meliden and back.

As we started along the walk we were treated to a display of agility by a squirrel up in the trees (too slow with the camera for that). This activity went towards the requirements of the Hikes Away badge. The purpose of the walk was to learn a little about the old railway line and the mining activities that took place in the area. The Prestatyn – Dyserth walkway is almost three miles long and follows the route of the disused railway line which was used to carry minerals from the local mines and quarries to the main railway line. The line closed in 1973.
